Nov 9 Human Design Money Archetypes™

Money.

It’s something that our history, stories, and cultural conditioning have much to say about.

Emotions, patterns, behaviors, reactions and responses to money — they’re all tied to the way we relate to money and how we are in the world with it.

We go through life having to deal with money by default, but we usually don’t know why we behave the way we do with it, or where those behaviors come from.

Human Design can reveal why you feel the way you do about money, why you behave the way you do around it, and which patterns (archetypes) may influence your relationship and experience with it.

In this article, I’m going to share about Human Design Type as an indication of your potential patterns or interactions with money, and how you can relate to money in ways that will facilitate an experience of ease and prosperity with money—while being more you.

But first, a Disclaimer: What I’m about to share with you isn’t the “only” way that you can thrive in your relationship with money.

Your Human Design energy type is just a part of the story. There are many other factors, archetypes, and influences that can be considered (we get to know those in the Human Design for Financial Nourishment workshop).

Also, you can experience your Type differently than others who have that same Type. So feel into it and see what resonates for you (or doesn’t) personally.

For now, knowing your Type can be a great place to start. But don’t let it box you in. Think of it more like a home base. A place where you can always return to, whenever you feel like you’ve explored too far beyond your authentic capacity.

Ok, here we go!

Here’s what each Human Design Type may experience as they move through the world, in relationship to money:

Human Design Manifestors and Money

True to their name, Manifestors tend to be very good at “manifesting” or creating money. This may seem annoyingly obvious, but sometimes I think it can’t be better explained. When a Manifestor “locks-in” to a creative urge that they’re truly inspired by or excited about, and they pursue it with focus, all of the pieces tend to fall together. It doesn’t always happen with ease (or quickly), but it almost always will happen if they feel it’s the right opportunity for them. Sometimes it seems like Manifestors can create money out of thin air, but really it’s their potent creative energy, focused attention on the things that feel right for them, and their strong intention that gets the money flowing right into their pockets.

Positive Expression: Manifestors can thrive with money when they initiate and act on the correct creative urges for them (by following their inner authority), without encountering resistance from others—or from their own doubts. When they clearly inform the people around them and then solely focus on what they need to do and then delegate the rest, they create a path of least resistance, which leads to financial flow and peace for them.

Shadow Expression: Manifestors can struggle when they feel financially restricted or limited. They don’t want money or a lack of resources to be the reason that they can’t create what they want (fair enough!). They also have to be mindful of burnout. Just because they have a creative urge doesn’t mean it’s correct (or sustainable) for them and, if they’re not following their inner authority they can get exhausted and angry that it’s not working. They can also experience their not-self theme of “anger” when they feel financially obligated to do something. Their true nature is to initiate—to get things going—not respond to obligations. However, their quick initiating nature can sometimes mean they make impulsive financial decisions while also not informing the important people in their lives, which can create resistance from others too.

Reflectors and Money

Reflectors experience the most ease with money when they’re in the right environment and when they’re open to receiving it from the right sources or opportunities for them. Because of the openness in their Human Design chart (they have zero defined Centers), they’re in a prime position to receive. So the key is knowing where and how to position themselves in the right places or situations for them. This requires trust, being available for the right kind of support, partnerships or collaborations, and having really good boundaries. As we know, the act of receiving can be vulnerable for many of us, but when a Reflector positions themselves correctly, where they feel safe and open to receiving (rather than feeling guarded or like they have to control everything), and when they’re in the right environment, with the right people, then receiving money, and opportunities that create money for them comes most naturally.

Positive Expression: Reflectors experience their True Self themes of “surprise and delight” with money when they recognize that there is a beautiful (almost hidden) quality about being a Reflector that makes them effortless oracles. For this, it’s important that they align themselves with the most supportive environments, where they can open themselves to the natural flow of life. For women, this is, by nature, shamanic. By working with the rhythms of the moon and the ebbs and flows of their own hormonal cycles, it can also help them to feel anchored within themselves during the ebbs and flows of their financial life. For men, following lunar patterns can work too, but they can also anchor into their daily circadian rhythm and routine (which is more of a male hormonal pattern). This can help them feel grounded within themselves while also allowing in the good that can come from being in a healthy environment. It can also keep them anchored while providing a valuable service to others (and the collective) as an evaluator or oracle.

Shadow Expression: Reflectors can experience their Not Self theme of “disappointment” around money when they try to control their environment too much or when their environment isn’t nurturing. Disappointment can also come as a result of financial decisions being made without giving themselves enough time to really sample life and reflect on what’s actually working and what isn’t.

Projectors and Money

Projectors tend to be very good at managing energy and guiding the flow of energy. Money is a form of energy. Some Projectors feel like they have to do so much to make money, while their focus should be less on “generating” or “earning” money and more so on guiding or directing the flow of it in their own lives. Projectors are also naturals when it comes to mastering systems. This could look like creating or facilitating a system that will help them grow their income or sharing their skills or systems with other people who will pay them for it. Also, developing their own gifts, skills and creativity, and recognizing that their ability to see what others do not are highly valuable (not everyone naturally has that ability!) gives Projectors more confidence to embrace their natural abilities and opens them up to receiving more in the flow of money.

Positive Expression: Projectors experience “success” with money when they stay true to themselves and develop their interests and hone in on their gifts—and then become recognized for their gifts, guidance or insights. Alos, being in an environment where they’re seen as the valuable asset that they are, and where their talents are invited, cherished, and well-compensated for can bring them that sense of success and feeling that they’re appreciated for who they are.

Shadow Expression: Projectors may feel their Not Self theme of “bitterness” around money when they impose their guidance, insights, or opinions on others without being invited to do so. They can also feel bitter when they’re overlooked or undervalued for their gifts, for their financial contributions, or for their work. This can lead to feelings of inadequacy and bitterness in their work environment or at home.

Generators and Money (includes Manifesting Generators)

Also true to their name, Generators are good at “generating” money. What does this mean? When a Generator genuinely feels a deep sense of fulfillment or satisfaction with what they’re doing, they seemingly have all the energy in the world to put in the hours, to do the things that have to get done, and to serve the needs of others that need serving. When they’re in this flow with their efforts (and they’re actually open to receiving and enjoying the fruits of them), and when they’re grounded in a sense of self-worth and knowing that they’re worthy of doing what actually lights them up, and doing what feels good and most natural to them, then “making” or creating money can become inevitable for Generators.

Positive Expression: When Generators are engaged in work and activities that genuinely satisfy them, they experience a natural flow of financial abundance. Their sense of satisfaction and vitality are like a magnet to the right opportunities, resources, and yes, money!

Shadow Expression: Generators can experience their not-self theme of “frustration” around money when they're not able to engage with work or activities that truly satisfies them. Also, when Generators end up chasing money as the first priority, at the expense of their satisfaction, it can lead to frustration and burnout—and ultimately less money.
